Jonathan Watson Lee – Film-maker, Expeditioneer, Fool
Jonathan completed his degree in Physics and Philosophy in 2006, only to find that there’s no money in sitting on a sofa, pondering the universe. He decided to get up off that sofa and find a more interesting job…
After no success in the oceanography, catering, theatre and bar-mitzvah industries, he found a position as a runner for the rom-com, Scenes of a Sexual Nature. As well as establishing his reputation as master tea-brewer, he filmed and edited an online behind-the-scenes video campaign. The film was a flop, but Jonathan had discovered the joys of film editing and so didn’t really mind. He decided to make a go of it.
Since then, he has worked as a freelancer on documentaries, films and many, many, many tourism commercials. He has edited for clients including The Financial Times, the 2012 Olympics, Kuoni Travel, Rentokil and Munch Bunch yoghurts. In his spare time he is a minor YouTube celebrity, and still makes the tea.
Inspired by a previous tour of the subcontinent three years ago, Jonathan moved to India in 2010 with all the money he had saved up from three years of film/tea-making. He is currently teaching English in a small charity-run primary school in a New Delhi slum, and in his spare time planning a foolish shenanigan to circumnavigate India by rail.

Katherine Short – Consultant, Chief of Base-Camp Operations, Luvvy
Katherine was set for a high-flying career in the UK’s Civil Service but gave it all up to eat samosas, pray to cows and squat over the toilet in India. She’s mainly here to work in a special needs school, before embarking on her latest scheme to become a speech and language therapist back in Blighty.
In her spare time she has become the ‘voice of common-sense’ in the Chapati Express planning sub-committee and official publicity shots photographer. During the actual expedition she will be stationed in Delhi HQ on the telegram-reciever and wireless (internet), posting real-time blog updates as they come through.
